Asia stocks rise after Wall Street soars

BANGKOK (AP) ? Asian stock markets rose Wednesday, powered by the biggest gains of the year on Wall Street after the U.S. Federal Reserve said it expects unemployment in the world's largest economy to keep falling.

Other good news from the U.S. that drove markets higher included a 1.1 percent increase in retail sales last month. The government also revised its estimates higher for December and January.

Benchmark oil hovered below $107 per barrel while the dollar rose against the euro and the yen.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index jumped 1.9 percent to 10,082.97 as the yen continued its retreat from record highs against the U.S. dollar.

South Korea's Kospi index climbed 1.2 percent to 2,049.99 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 1.2 percent to 21,588.25. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.9 percent to 4,285.50. Benchmarks in Singapore, mainland China and Taiwan also rose.

Wall Street's rally began after government data showed improving retail sales and the Fed said it saw signs of a stronger economy and expected the unemployment rate to keep falling. The market soared in the last hour after JPMorgan Chase announced a share buyback and raised its quarterly dividend.

"Exports stocks, especially focusing on the U.S. market, will definitely benefit," said Dickie Wong, executive director of Kingston Securities Ltd. in Hong Kong.

Japanese exporters surged. Sony Corp. vaulted 4.7 percent and Nissan Motor Corp. climbed 3.6 percent.

South Korea's top shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries, jumped 3.5 percent and Samsung Electronics Co. gained 2.5 percent.

Higher prices for industrial metals like silver and copper helped mining and related stocks. Hong Kong-listed Jiangxi Copper rose 2.8 percent and Aluminum Corp. of China added 3.2 percent.

In Australia, BHP Billiton, the world's largest mining company, rose 1.5 percent.

The Dow finished at 13,177.68, its highest close since Dec. 31, 2007 ? putting the Dow within 1,000 points of its record, 14,164.53, set in October 2007.

The Nasdaq composite index rose 1.9 percent to 3,039.88 ? closing above 3,000 for the first time since December 2000. The Standard & Poor's 500 index closed up 1.8 percent at 1,395.96, its highest level since June 5, 2008.

Benchmark oil for April delivery was up 7 cents to $106.78 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 37 cents to finish at $106.71 per barrel.

In currency trading, the euro was lower at $1.3068 from $1.3073 late Tuesday in New York. The dollar rose to 83.16 yen from 83.08 yen. The greenback remained in the 83-yen range, its strongest level against the yen since last April.

Is the Latest Rival to the iPad, the Asus Google Nexus Tablet Coming Soon?

The all-new Apple iPad will face some stiff competition from a Nexus-branded tablet to be brought out by Google and Asus in a few months time.

In December last year, a strong rumour related to the tablet came from the mouth of ex-CEO Eric Schmidt when speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. During Mobile World Congress 2012 even Andy Rubin, the vice president of mobile at Google, gave a clear indication by divulging the company's plan to "double down" on tablets mainly targetting Amazon's Kindle Fire in terms of low-priced Android tablets.

Several indications point to a Google Nexus 7in tablet most probably expected to be manufactured by Asus. In fact the Asus Transformer Prime tablet has attracted many consumers and has earned the status of being considered as the best Android tablet yet in the market, even out-performing rivals from Samsung. Also analyst Richard Shim predicts that new tablet production units are expected to be between 1.5 million and 2 million units.

Although quite a few analysts predict the tablet being amied at Amazon Kindle, the features and specifications show that the tablet could clearly take on new iPad. The Nexus tablet is expected to feature 7in (1280 x 800) display, Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Given that Asus is expected to manufacture the tablet, Google Nexus tablet may sport a 1.3GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera capable of capturing video at 1080p, 25Wh battery, HDMI port, microSD card slot and huge internal memory found in Asus Transformer Prime TF700T. And the possibility of NFC support cannot be ruled out. If these features are found then the tablet may come with a price tag of $250 similar to Asus's 7in Eee Pad MeMO 370T which was announced at CES. The new tablet from Google will feature Google's new Play Store support.

However with Google's aim of hoping to capture market share by competing with Amazon Kindle Fire and with the tablet also expected to come with a low price tag, we may see specifications similar to Kindle Fire like a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 7in 1024 x 600 pixels display, 8GB storage and Li-Ion 4400 mAh battery. Also, a slightly more expensive 10in version of the Google tablet is rumored to come out as well. The heavily subsidised US price of no more than $199 will most probably see UK pricing of ?150 to ?199.

It's not going to be an easy task to compete against Apple's new iPad specifications: 9.7in 1536 x 2048 pixels display, 16/32/64GB storage with varied pricing, 4G LTE (though only in certain countries), a 5-megapixel camera, dual-core 1GHz processor and Li-Po 42.5Wh battery giving up to 10 hours battery life. Given the expected specifications of the Asus-manufactured Google Nexus tablet and the comments by Rubin at Mobile World Congress, we expect that the Nexus tablet will compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire rather than the Apple iPad. However, there are also rumors about Apple releasing a 7in iPad mini in near future, amd then the Google Nexus 7in version may prove to be strong competiton.

The battle between teh two giant companuies is set to heat up in the furute and the new iPhoto app for the new iPad, which was shown off last week, does not use Google Maps but instead it relies on the OpenStreetMap Foundation, a British not-for-profit organisation that offers free mapping data gathered by a worldwide army of 400,000 volunteers.

Presently, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus retails for $299 ? $349 and the Tab 7.7 is available through Verizon Wireless for $499 with a two-year contract. Meanwhile the 7in Galaxy Tab 2 is selling in some European countries for $419 ? $568.

[Abstract]

Breast cancer is the most frequent female cancer in the world. The approach of prognostic diagnosis of breast cancer has been studied for a long time. Urinary nucleosides were recently presented as potential tumor markers for breast cancer by many groups.Urinary nucleosides were usually analyzed using phenylboronate affinity gel chromatography and HPLC or CE. Several kinds of pattern recognizing technique had been used to study prognostic diagnosis of breast cancer using urinary nucleosides. The result indicated these approaches have some disadvantages and need some improvement.In this thesis, we studied computational analysis approach to breast cancer metabonomics. Some key problems in analysis of urinary nucleosides and diagnosis of breast have been solved.This thesis includes three parts:(1) A novel method to establish calibration model of electrophoretic mobilities in capillary zone electorphresis using support vector regression (SVR) is proposed. Nucleotide was studied as an example and orthogonal design was applied to arrange the experiments. Support vector regression was used to establish calibration models to predict the electrophoretic mobilities of nucleotide from separation conditions of capillary zone electorphresis, i. e. column temperature, voltage, buffer concentration and pH. The results showed that the predictive accuracy of calibration models established by SVR was much better than that of the models by PLSR and ANN.(2) A novel approach of improved repeatablity of CZE using sudden change in electric current has been used with the advantages of needing no markers and easy to be integrated in the software of CE.(3) A new approach for diagnose breast cancer using nucleosides in urine based on metabonomics has been proposed. Four key components wereselected as characteristic pattern with certain feature selection method from the experimental data obtained by high performance liquid chromatography method. These four key components were analyzed with HPLC-MS/MS. BP-ANN has been used as pattern recognition tool to classify the samples form healthy persons and patients. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of model are higher than 90%. The results show that the proposed diagnostic method have advantages of low complexity and high diagnoses accuracy in the early diagnosis of breast cancer.

A loss on Schedule F is deductible against other sources of income on a tax return. Farming and ranching is considered self-employment and therefore incurs the self-employment tax calculated on Schedule SE.

One of the important reasons taxpayers with agricultural activities should choose?enrolled agents?for tax services is the special rules available to filers of Schedule F.

For example, farmers and ranchers can use income average over three year periods. This uses income information from past years to lower current year income that?s unusually high. In addition, Schedule F income can normally avoid a requirement for estimated tax payments throughout the year. Knowing these rules is how an enrolled agent tax practice saves time and trouble for anyone with agricultural activity.
